Hepatitis E: An Overview of Human Epidemiology
Hepatitis E, which is endemic in countries with inadequate public sanitation, is responsible for locally acquired cases in industrialized nations. The sources of infection and modes of transmission for locally acquired cases remain largely unexplained. In France, enhanced surveillance for hepatitis E has been implemented to document risk exposures in order to develop preventive measures. (R.A.)
