Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Skin Melanoma

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of skin melanoma was 7,886 among men and 7,627 among women. The number of deaths from skin melanoma was estimated at 1,135 among men and 840 among women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rates of 91% and 94% for men and women, respectively, diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; Improvement in 5-year age-standardized survival between diagnoses in 1990 and 2010 (+11 percentage points), but stabilization since 2010; The 5-year net survival gain increases with age at diagnosis; Excess mortality rate is virtually zero beyond 5 years of follow-up.
