Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Lung

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of lung cancer was 46,363, and the estimated number of deaths from lung cancer was 33,117. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rates of 24% and 18% for women and men, respectively, diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; Better survival outcomes for women; An 11-percentage-point improvement in 5-year age-standardized survival over 25 years; Greater improvement in 1-year net survival for people aged 70 and older, catching up to the prognosis of younger individuals; Survival gains maintained 5 years after diagnosis, except for patients aged 80 and older, for whom these benefits diminish; Improvement in 10-year survival between 1990 and 2010 regardless of age.
