In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases was 10,580, 77% of which were in men. The estimated number of deaths from liver cancer was 8,697 [1]. Liver cancers are predominantly hepatocellular carcinomas (80 to 90%) and cholangiocarcinomas. Other forms of liver cancer are very rare. Key points: very poor prognosis with a 5-year standardized net survival rate of 18% in men and 19% in women for cases diagnosed in 2010–2015; Improvement in 5-year net survival, which tripled from 1990 to 2015; improvement mainly between 1990 and 2005, followed by little change since 2005.
