This guide presents the job-exposure matrices for five oxygenated solvents or families of oxygenated solvents, as well as for at least one of these five families, developed by the Department of Occupational Health (DST) of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) and the Joint Research Unit for Epidemiology and Surveillance in Transport, Work, and the Environment (Umrestte). These matrices provide an overview of the use of these solvents in France from 1950 to 2012. For all occupations considered to be exposed in France, exposure is assessed by period, based on criteria of probability, frequency, and intensity of exposure, as detailed in this technical guide. Furthermore, this guide provides technical information on the use of these solvents as well as on occupational exposure to these products in France during the period in question. The comprehensive matrix, accompanied by a summary presentation document, is available on the Exp-Pro portal established by the InVS (www.exppro.fr) in several versions of national or international classifications of occupations and sectors of activity.
