Men's Health, Nov/Dec 2012, No. 422: Remote Prevention and Support in Healthcare

Over the past several decades, remote healthcare assistance has grown significantly in France, beginning with health helplines that provide assistance, information, and guidance to those who call them. More recently, since the 2000s, a new range of services has emerged with the advent of the Internet: information, discussion forums, Q&A exchanges—most telephone health services have developed complementary online offerings, including “coaching” designed to help smokers in their efforts to quit. This feature article reviews these developments and presents an overview of the current state of scientific knowledge alongside an overview of professional practices.
