This report provides an overview of health education and cinema in France, and introduces the Ciné-Santé festival, the first traveling film and health education festival, held in the Rhône-Alpes region in 1995. Two articles (by Alain Douiller and Jean-Pierre Deschamps) demonstrate that films do not need to address health directly to serve "health education conceived fundamentally as education for life, solidarity, freedom, and citizenship."
