Men's Health, July/August 2008, No. 396 Media and Health: Developing Critical Thinking Skills

How can we help children and teenagers develop critical thinking skills in the face of the flood of health-related information? In this special report, sociologists, doctors, and other experts highlight the pitfalls of information that must be carefully analyzed. They emphasize the dangers of baby TV channels when used without supervision. Programs designed to develop psychosocial skills are presented to help young people develop critical thinking. Other topics in this issue include video game and internet addiction, support for people with alcohol dependence, and an investigation into food access among families living in extreme poverty.
