Why Focus on Oral Health? Epidemiological and Economic Insights.

Epidemiological data show a significant improvement in children’s oral health. Over the past twenty-five years, the proportion of 12-year-olds free of cavities has risen from 12% to 56%. However, these considerable advances should not obscure the difficulties in accessing care that continue to disadvantage the most vulnerable populations. The inequalities observed in oral health are significant and correlated with social inequalities.
