Teachers and Cancer Prevention.
A survey was conducted at the request of the EEC by the company "European Omnibus Survey" among 2,750 teachers in the 12 member states to assess their awareness of health issues. This article presents the data pertaining to French teachers, which allows for a comparison of the attitudes of secondary school teachers (two-thirds of the sample of 240 people) with those of elementary school teachers. The topics covered include areas of interest regarding health, the people with whom these topics are discussed, opinions on the level of knowledge regarding the role of role model or health educator vis-à-vis students, practices and opinions on cancer prevention and its risk factors (particularly smoking), as well as awareness of and adherence to the European Code Against Cancer.
