Overseas departments: a dedicated communication strategy.
As the communications officer for the AIDS division of the DGS, the author highlights the need for a tailored approach for populations in the French overseas departments, drawing on data from surveys of sexual behavior in the French West Indies and French Guiana (presented by Colette Ménard of the CFES). Communication efforts should focus on three key areas: condom use, HIV testing, and attitudes toward people living with HIV. The article briefly describes government information campaigns, specifically the 1996 campaign, which included two TV spots and a radio campaign featuring information about the disease and personal testimonials.
