Non-traditional parenting styles and the role of children.

The concept of parenthood has evolved significantly over the past few decades. Alongside the traditional model of biological parents, other forms of parenthood have emerged: single-parent families, step-parenthood, and same-sex parenthood. Gérard Neyrand, a sociologist, analyzes the impact of these changes on children, who may be raised by more than two people acting as parents to them. He emphasizes that it is not so much the setting in which the child is raised that is disruptive, but rather the quality of the relationships maintained with the people who serve as their parents.
