Did you say a 30-minute brisk walk every day?

In 2004, INPES launched a television and radio information campaign to encourage the public to be more active and to engage in "at least the equivalent of thirty minutes of brisk walking per day," in line with expert recommendations. An evaluation of this campaign shows that the French have taken this guideline to heart and that half of them found the campaign motivating. However, this communication primarily reached middle- and upper-class groups, and in the future, it will be necessary to involve local community leaders more extensively—a step that will be taken when the campaign is relaunched in 2007.
