The principles of the Cabiria association’s action program in Lyon for sex workers, supported by AIDES-formation, are briefly described as follows: a community-based approach, an ethical approach (taking into account all affected groups without judgment), integration into a comprehensive approach to health and self-esteem, access to rights, and the active involvement of individuals. The goal is the prevention of AIDS, as well as hepatitis and addiction-related illnesses. The initiative also incorporates the concept of partnership with all institutional and community stakeholders to find solutions to both health and social risks (exclusion, precariousness, etc.), which implies a shift in society and its values regarding these situations and this social group.
