The Benefits and Limitations of the Community Approach.

The author briefly reviews the development of the community-based approach and its underlying principles, as well as the methodology of community work. She uses this framework to demonstrate how to analyze the problem of drug addiction in a neighborhood, make an assessment, plan an intervention, and evaluate it. In this approach, the social worker becomes a community facilitator and must be trained for this role. The choice of methods must take into account the challenges identified by the initial analysis.
