Ages 40–54: A Critical Window for Effective Health Interventions
More than one-third of people aged 45–54 have at least two chronic conditions. Most health indicators are less favorable for people with lower socioeconomic status, reflecting social and regional health inequalities. It is therefore necessary to address the determinants of health “in midlife” to delay the loss of independence among these vulnerable individuals; all the more so given that care for certain chronic conditions has deteriorated for a segment of the population over the past fifteen years. Adopting healthy lifestyle habits in midlife has a beneficial effect on aging.
