Impact of COVID-19 on Mental Health in Emergency Rooms and at SOS Médecins, France, 2020–21
The health, societal, and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are affecting the mental health of the population (results of the COVIPREV survey). Visits to OSCOUR network emergency departments (93% of national visits) and SOS Médecins procedures (95% of national procedures), which have been tracked daily for several years, have been monitored for various mental health diagnoses since the start of the pandemic. Changes in emergency department visits, hospitalizations following visits for suicidal acts (GS), anxiety disorders, mood disorders (MD), and SOS Médecins interventions for anxiety and depressive states in 2020 were compared to those of the two previous years, at the national and regional levels, for four age groups (<15 years, 15–44 years, 45–64 years, and 65 years and older).
