Occupational exposure to organic solvents and breast cancer in men and women: new findings support hypotheses regarding environmental risk factors

In France, more than 53,000 new cases and more than 11,000 deaths from breast cancer are reported each year. Known risk factors account for only a small proportion of breast cancer cases, against a backdrop of rising incidence of the disease in industrialized countries. Other risk factors, particularly environmental or occupational exposures, are suspected but remain less studied. (R.A.)
