In Europe, nonprofit plasma fractionation organizations believe that standardized epidemiological data collection and analysis is a key public health issue. These organizations are currently working on a surveillance program for monitoring and reporting data from their unpaid blood and plasma donors, under the auspices of the European Plasma Fractionation Association (EPFA). This article presents a retrospective study aimed at providing an overview of donor screening results from 1990 to 1996.
