Experience with telepathology for the diagnostic confirmation of mesothelioma

In practice, telepathology is defined as the ability to examine histological slides using virtual slides that are analogous to physical slides, and to reach a histological diagnosis without compromising the standards of quality, safety, and speed achieved during a conventional microscopic examination. In this article, we report on the experience of the Mesothelioma Network regarding the standardized certification of mesothelioma diagnoses by the National Reference Center [CNR] MESOPATH, the challenges and benefits of using this new technology, the constraints and future of this tool, and the IT solutions required for its implementation.
