SOS Médecins National Newsletter, January 19, 2010

Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased slightly compared to the previous week. This increase in activity involves children aged 5 to 14 and is related to fever.

Nationally, the number of calls suggesting flu-like symptoms has been declining for several weeks across all geographic regions. Over the past week, diagnoses of "clinical influenza" have also decreased. This decline affects all age groups.

The proportion of cases for the "gastroenteritis" indicator appears to have stabilized over the past few days but remains at a high level. Nearly 30% of calls are related to gastroenteritis.

The proportion of cases for the "bronchiolitis/respiratory conditions in infants" indicator, after having fallen sharply since late December, rose slightly this week in the North, Southwest, and West regions.

The number of deaths certified by the SOS Médecins associations has decreased compared to the previous week.

For the past week, there has been a decrease in overall activity in most regions and a continued decline in "clinical influenza" diagnoses.
