Typhoid Fever in France in 1985 (based on mandatory reporting)

658 cases of typhoid fever were reported in 1985; 356 were investigated, and of these, 200 were confirmed. 45% of the cases occurred in children (aged 15 or younger). 61.5% of the cases occurred during the months of August, September, and October. Regional analysis shows that the Île-de-France and PACA regions alone account for 55% of cases. 68% of cases occurred upon return from travel to epidemic areas. A table showing typhoid fever mortality in France since 1980 is provided.
