Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of February 23, 2023.

Key points

COVID-19

  • In the Pays de la Loire region, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation and hospital and healthcare utilization indicators remained at low levels.

  • In Week 7, virological indicators (testing rate, incidence rate, positivity rate) remained generally stable and at very low levels. SOS Médecins calls and emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19, as well as new hospitalizations, new critical care admissions, and in-hospital deaths among patients with SARS-CoV-2, were generally stable in Week 7 and at low levels.

Bronchiolitis

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been at the end of a bronchiolitis epidemic since Week 05.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been in the influenza epidemic phase since Week 49.

  • In week 07, rates of emergency department visits and calls to SOS Médecins for influenza-like illness were generally stable. The virology laboratories at the Nantes and Angers university hospitals again reported that type B viruses were the most commonly detected. Nationally, type B/Victoria viruses remained the predominant circulating strain.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • Emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis were at a moderate level of activity in Week 07.
