Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. Epidemiological Update as of September 21, 2016.

Key development

In Languedoc-Roussillon / Midi-Pyrénées, since May 1, 2016, 256 suspected cases have been reported in the 8 departments under enhanced surveillance:

  • no locally transmitted cases have been identified,

  • 98 imported cases (i.e., from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 26 of dengue, and 3 of chikungunya have been confirmed.

Nationwide, from May 1 to September 15, 2016:

  • No cases of local vector-borne transmission,

  • 3 cases of Zika virus infection through sexual transmission have been confirmed,

  • 377 imported cases (i.e., from travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 116 of dengue, 1 case of dengue/Zika co-infection, and 5 cases of chikungunya were confirmed.
