Health Surveillance of Arboviral Diseases in the Occitanie Region. Update as of November 4, 2019.

Key Facts

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2019, 117 cases have been confirmed
:- 107 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 2 of Zika, and 8 of chikungunya have been confirmed;
- 0 confirmed indigenous cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to October 31, 2019
:- 559 imported cases (i.e., travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue (15% of which were travelers returning from Réunion Island), 49 imported cases of chikungunya, and 6 imported cases of Zika.
- 9 locally transmitted cases of dengue (1 cluster of 7 cases in the Alpes-Maritimes and 2 cases in the Rhône department), 3 locally transmitted cases of Zika (Var department).

A dengue epidemic is currently underway on Réunion Island, with more than 17,919 confirmed cases of dengue reported between the beginning of 2019 and September 22, 2019. The number of confirmed cases continues to decline, a trend that began in mid-May.
