COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Occitanie as of April 29, 2020
Key indicators
Virological surveillance:
6,389 positive tests since Week 9, including 731 in Week 17*;
A positivity rate of 4% in hospital and private laboratories in Week 17.
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: 660 consultations for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 consultations (Week 17, 793 in Week 16*);
Sentinelles Network: 48 [17;79] (tele-)consultations for acute respiratory infections per 100,000 inhabitants (Week 17, 89 in Week 16).
Surveillance in long-term care facilities
435 reports filed; among residents, 1,974 cases including 177 deaths in long-term care facilities as of 04/27/2020.
Surveillance in hospitals
Oscour® Network: 403 visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits (Week 17, 479 in Week 16);
Sentinel intensive care units:
53% of cases were aged 65 and older, and 77% of cases had at least one identified comorbidity;
88% of cases who died in these units had at least one comorbidity;
Cases under 60 years of age (n=133) were more frequently overweight or obese (40% vs. 27%) than cases over 60 years of age (n=270).
Mortality Surveillance
No excess all-cause mortality (all ages and among those aged 65 and older) has been observed since week 14;
COVID-19 hospital mortality (SI-VIC): since March 16, 2020, the Occitanie region has been among the French regions with the lowest COVID-19 hospital mortality (along with Brittany and Nouvelle-Aquitaine).
