Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of December 12, 2023.

Key Points

  • From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • From May 1 to November 30, 2023, the following cases were identified:

    • Nationally: 1,979 imported cases of dengue, 29 imported cases of chikungunya, 9 imported cases of Zika, and 43 locally transmitted cases of dengue.

    • In Occitanie, 212 imported cases of dengue, 3 imported cases of chikungunya, and 22 locally acquired cases of dengue spread across 3 transmission clusters. No cases of Zika were identified.

  • To limit the risk of local transmission, 320 entomological surveys and 234 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.

  • The surveillance season ended on November 30.
