Health Monitoring in Normandy. Update as of January 3, 2024.

Key Points

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • The number of visits for acute gastroenteritis in emergency departments and private practice (SOS Médecins) is rising sharply, confirming the usual seasonal increase in acute gastroenteritis during this period.

  • The number of visits for foodborne illness is also on the rise.

  • A significant number of foodborne illnesses linked to oyster consumption have also been reported to the Regional Health Agencies (ARS), which may partly explain these increases.

Pneumonia

  • The number of emergency department visits for pneumonia among children under 15 is increasing.

  • Visits to private practices (SOS Médecins) are decreasing but remain at high levels.

Flu

  • Normandy has been in the pre-epidemic phase since week 51.

  • Indicators continue to rise in emergency departments while they are declining in private practice (SOS Médecins).

  • The AH1N1 subtype is the most common among hospital samples.

Bronchiolitis

  • All indicators continue to decline, but levels remain high nonetheless.

COVID-19

  • The decline in emergency department visit rates and procedures at SOS Médecins continues.

  • The number of positive laboratory test results is also decreasing.
