Key indicators

Virological Surveillance

  • Number of positive PCR tests: decrease in Week 16 compared to Week 15 (-31%) in hospital laboratories and private laboratories

  • In week 16, the number of positive PCR tests was 5,861 in hospital laboratories and 2,237 in monitored private laboratories

  • Decrease in positivity rates for both data sources:

    • LABM (3 labs): 21.5% positive tests in week 16 (33.1% in week 15)

    • Hospital laboratories: 24.9% positive tests in week 16 (35.9% in week 15)

Community surveillance

  • SOS Médecins: 1,100/10,000 consultations in week 16 (1,588 in week 15), decrease in the rate of consultations for suspected COVID-19

  • Sentinelles Network: 187 (tele-)consultations for acute respiratory infection per 100,000 inhabitants in week 16 (180 in week 15), stable

Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes

  • 36,121 cases (residents and staff) and 4,703 deaths (residents) reported as of April 21, 2020, including 29,030 cases (residents and staff) and 4,590 deaths (residents) reported in long-term care facilities

Hospital surveillance

  • Oscour® network: decrease in the rate of visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits, with 1,437 per 10,000 visits in week 16 (2,202 per 10,000 in week 15)

  • Sentinel intensive care units: 67% of cases are under 65 years of age and 77% of cases have at least one risk factor

Mortality surveillance

  • Excess mortality across all causes and all age groups has been observed in the region since week 12. Excess mortality was estimated at 181% in week 15.
