Gay Barometer 2000: Results of the First Survey of Patrons at Parisian Gay Venues
The resurgence of risky behavior regarding HIV and STDs among gay men, observed both abroad and in France, has led to the expansion of the system for studying and monitoring preventive behaviors within this population. In addition to the Gay Press Survey (EPG)—conducted periodically since 1985 among readers—there is now the Gay Barometer Survey (SBG). This rapid survey, first launched in 2000 and intended to be repeated annually, polls patrons of Parisian gay venues. It allows for an assessment of the state of prevention among a population that is particularly sexually active and concerned with managing the risk of HIV and STI transmission with casual partners.
