Évariste-Galois Middle School in Nanterre: Peer Tutors and Mediators Supporting Students Who Speak Other Languages [Interview].

Évariste-Galois Middle School in Nanterre has implemented a special support program for students who come from other countries and have little or no command of the French language. These non-native French-speaking students are mentored by other students, some of whom are trained and serve as peer mediators. Newcomers thus benefit from a point of reference other than an adult. This program appears to have a positive impact on several indicators: very low absenteeism rates and strong performance on the Brevet exam.
