Influenza Surveillance in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. Update as of January 20, 2020.

Epidemiological Situation

Epidemiological surveillance indicators have been rising in recent weeks in Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy. The epidemiological situation regarding influenza in Saint Barthélemy corresponds to the start of the epidemic, while the situation in Guadeloupe and Saint Martin must be monitored closely.
The influenza virus has been isolated in hospitals: it is type A and B in Guadeloupe and type A in Saint Martin.
From early November through January 12, three severe cases were reported, two in Guadeloupe (including one death) and one in Saint Martin.

=> Vigilance regarding the evolving situation in Guadeloupe and Saint Martin

Santé publique France Antilles reminds the public that vaccination is recommended for vulnerable individuals and healthcare professionals; the campaign continues through January 31.
