Key Points

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

• Since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 32 imported cases have been identified in the region: 9 cases of chikungunya (+1 compared to last week) and 23 cases of dengue (+3). The import pressure is much lower than it was during the same period in 2025.
  No locally acquired cases have been detected in mainland France.

West Nile Virus Infections

• No locally acquired cases have been detected in mainland France since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1).

High temperatures, heat wave

• A heatwave has been underway in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region since June 22, 2026. It affects the Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, and Vaucluse departments.
  Changes in heat-related indicators during heat waves are covered in a specific weekly heat wave bulletin. This bulletin will be available in the “Publications” tab of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Corsica section of the Santé publique France website as soon as it is published.

Pollen and Allergies 

• Pollen exposure was at a high level in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Allergy-related activity at SOS Médecins was down this week, at a level typical for the season.

Mortality

• No excess mortality was observed.
