Key Points

  • Since January 1, 2026, 102 cases of measles have been reported, including 23 new cases in May. The number of cases reported during the first four months of the year remains well below that of 2025 for the same period (674 cases).
  • Of these cases, 36 (35%) were hospitalized (including 1 in intensive care), and 17 cases (17%) developed complications (including 8 cases of pneumonia). No deaths have been reported.
  • The median age of cases is 20.1 years. The three age groups most affected are adults aged 40 and older (16%), adolescents aged 15–19 (15%), and adults aged 20–24 (13%).
  • Among the individuals targeted for vaccination (aged over one year and born since 1980), for whom vaccination status was known (n=69), 34 (49%) did not have an up-to-date vaccination status, while 35 (51%) had received two doses.
  • 31 departments in France (31%) reported at least one case during the period. The five departments with the highest number of reported cases are: Yvelines (11%), Moselle (9%), Hauts-de-Seine (9%), Haute-Savoie (8%), and Paris (7%). No cases were reported in the overseas territories.
  • Over the period, 15 clusters (groups of epidemiologically linked cases) were reported to the Regional Health Agencies (ARS) (provisional, unconsolidated data) for a total of 63 cases. Of these, 6 clusters involved 5 or more cases. Three outbreaks are still active.
