Mpox cases in France. January 1–April 30, 2025.
Key Points
A total of 73 cases of mpox have been reported to Santé publique France since January 1, 2025.
The reported cases include 71 men (97%) and 2 women.
Among the 61 male cases with known vaccination status in 2025, 37 (61%) were not vaccinated against mpox and 24 (39%) were vaccinated (at least one dose of a third-generation vaccine), most with an incomplete vaccination schedule (1 or 2 doses).
Three cases of clade Ib have been confirmed by the National Reference Center for Orthopoxviruses since the start of the outbreak.
A first case of clade Ib, reported in late December 2024, was confirmed by the National Reference Center for Orthopoxviruses in January 2025. This case had been in contact with individuals who had traveled to an African country where the clade Ib monkeypox virus is circulating.
The second and third cases, imported from two of these countries, were confirmed in late February and late March 2025, respectively.
Nearly 10,000 people received a mpox vaccine booster dose between September 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025.
An increase in mpox vaccination initiations (12,000 first doses of vaccine administered) was observed during this period.
The mpox pages on the websites sexosafe.fr, vaccination-info-service.fr, professionnels.vaccination-infoservice.fr, and mpox-infoservice.fr have received 9,610 visitors since January 1, 2025.
