Key Points

• In week 45 (November 4–10, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children aged 2–14 and adults aged 15–74 (up 11% and 6%, respectively, or 1,452 and 2,753 visits) and decreased in other age groups.

• Regarding respiratory indicators, there was an increase in cases of influenza/flu-like illness among children (+28%, or 104 cases) and among those aged 15–74 (+20%, or 350 cases), and, in small numbers, for suspected COVID-19 among those aged 2–14 (+54%, or 13 cases). In connection with the start of the school year, there was also an increase in cases of asthma attacks among children (+8%, or +27 cases).

• The increase in cases related to digestive disorders continues among children aged 2–14 and those aged 15–74: acute abdominal pain (up 74% and 20%, respectively, or 393 and 203 cases) and acute gastroenteritis (respectively +46% and +28%, or +393 and +597 cases); and vomiting among children aged 2–14 and adults (respectively +35% and +40%, or +30 and +80 cases). There was also an increase in cases of viral syndrome among 2–14-year-olds (+54%, or +99 cases).

• Furthermore, there was an increase in procedures for trauma among children (+71%, or +249 procedures) to levels significantly higher than in the previous three years, and among those aged 15–74 (+8%, or +142 procedures).

• Among other indicators, there was an increase in procedures for anxiety among children (+18 procedures) and among those aged 15–64 (+115 procedures, or +14%), and for depressive disorders among those aged 15–44 (+30%, or +38 procedures).
