SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 8, 2011

The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has stabilized compared to last week across all age groups and geographic areas.

Across all age groups, the number of calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses stabilized over the past week. However, variations are observed by geographic region. The number of clinical influenza diagnoses continues to rise in the Southwest, Central-East, and Northeast, while it remains stable in the West and Central/Ile-de-France and is decreasing in the North.

Unlike in Week 4 across all of France, clinical influenza diagnoses stabilized among children in Week 5. Among adults, they are still up by 11%, but this increase is less pronounced than in Week 4.

Calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" among children under 2 years of age have stabilized over the past two weeks, which is consistent with data observed in emergency departments (Oscour®). They account for nearly half of SOS Médecins’ activity for this age group. The "gastroenteritis" indicator has stabilized over the past two weeks.

The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations is similar to that of the previous week.
