SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 4, 2014
Trends in Overall Activity: Across all age groups, activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable over the past week both nationally and regionally. However, among children under 15, the increase in consultations observed over the past two weeks has continued at a moderate pace (+1,663 consultations over the past week).
Trends in Seasonal Indicators Seasonal indicators (primarily ENT and respiratory) are on the rise across all age groups, but numbers remain within expected seasonal ranges. Calls to SOS Médecins for influenza/flu-like illness are rising sharply across all age groups (+45%, +1,094 cases). This trend is observed in all geographic areas. In the Centre-East region, the share of consultations for this indicator accounts for 12% of the associations’ total activity (compared to 4–8% in other regions). Consultations for gastroenteritis, across all age groups, remain stable at a high level but comparable to that of previous years during this period. Among children under 15, ENT infections (nasopharyngitis, otitis, tonsillitis) and respiratory infections (bronchitis, pneumonia) are on the rise, as in the previous week, in line with their seasonal trend. There is also an increase in consultations for isolated fevers.
