SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 22, 2011

The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has decreased by nearly 10% compared to last week. This decline is primarily observed among children aged 5–14 (-24.8%). This trend is evident across all geographic regions and is consistent with the decrease in patient volume observed in the emergency departments of the Oscour® network.

Across all age groups, calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses have decreased by 20% and 32%, respectively. This decrease is observed in all regions and affects all age groups (notably -42% among children aged 5 to 14 and -30% among adults aged 15 to 74 for diagnoses).

Calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" among children under 2 years of age have stabilized over the past week across all regions. These calls account for more than one-third of SOS Médecins’ activity for this age group.

The "gastroenteritis" indicator also saw a slight decrease of 9% over the past week.

Following a moderate increase in the number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations observed in early February, the numbers have risen slightly again over the past week.
