Key Points

• In Week 47 (November 18–24, 2024), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following emergency department visits increased compared to the previous week among children under 2 years of age (up 5% and 12%, respectively, or 1,210 more visits and 432 more hospitalizations). They remained stable in other age groups.

• The increase in visits linked to seasonal respiratory indicators continues among children, but at a more moderate rate than in Week 46: bronchitis (+33%, or +149 visits), influenza/flu-like illness (+29%, or +108 visits), pneumonia (+12%, or +111 visits), ENT infections (+9%, or +966 visits), and among children under 2 years of age for bronchiolitis (+29%, or +698 visits), cough (+18%, or +93 visits), and asthma attacks (+7%, or +77 visits).

• Among adults, seasonal respiratory indicators are stable or declining, except for visits for influenza/flu-like illness (+28%, or +175 visits), for asthma attacks among those aged 15–74 (+6%, or +84 visits), and for pneumonia among those aged 75 and older (+6%, or +141 visits).

• Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for general malaise among children (+13%, or +100 visits), and among those aged 2–14, for digestive disorders (+13%, or +140 visits). Among adults, there was an increase in visits for dyspnea/respiratory failure (+10%, or +364 visits), and among those aged 75 and older, for cardiac decompensation (+11%, or +158 visits).
