Key Points
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
As of September 2, no new episodes of local transmission have been detected on the island compared to last week, nor have any new local cases been identified within previously identified outbreaks. The current tally stands at 3 episodes of local chikungunya transmission and 18 cases. As a reminder, the case initially identified in Porto-Vecchio was linked to an episode of local transmission in Antibes (PACA).
In mainland France, 44 outbreaks of local vector-borne transmission have been identified: 34 chikungunya outbreaks (+4 compared to last week) and 10 dengue outbreaks (+3 compared to last week).
Furthermore, since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 3 imported cases of dengue and 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed in Corsica (no new cases compared to last week).
Heatwave
No heat wave is currently underway or expected in Corsica in the coming days.
Emergency department activity has decreased slightly compared to the previous week and remains at levels similar to those observed in previous years.
Asthma at the Start of the School Year
Monitoring of asthma-related visits among children via analysis of OSCOUR® and SOS Médecins indicators has been in place since Week 34. In Corsica, activity for asthma at SOS Médecins among those under 15 has increased compared to last week, while activity in emergency departments remains low.
