Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
A new outbreak of local transmission of chikungunya has been detected in Corsica, bringing the total number of outbreaks identified as of August 6 to two:
the first is located in the municipality of Grosseto-Prugna (Southern Corsica) and includes thirteen detected cases (+2 compared to last week);
a second outbreak has been detected in the municipality of Ghisonaccia (Haute-Corse); only one related case has been detected so far.
Furthermore, since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 3 imported cases of dengue and 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed in Corsica (no new cases compared to last week).
Heatwave
No heat wave is currently underway or forecast in Corsica in the coming days. A rise in temperatures in Haute-Corse is expected at the end of week 32.
Emergency room activity for heat-related conditions is stable (visits) or declining (hospitalizations) across all age groups. The proportion of activity, for visits, is in line with expected values. At SOS Médecins, only one diagnosis of a heat-related condition was made in week 31.
