Key Points

COVID-19

  • Regional viral circulation is on the rise, with the exception of the positivity rate, which remains stable at a very high level.

  • Most other indicators are rising.

Bronchiolitis

  • 7th week of the epidemic.

  • Emergency departments - The number and proportion of visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age have stabilized (31.6% vs. 31.4% in Week 47). This level exceeds that of all epidemic peaks in previous winter seasons. The number and proportion of hospitalizations have also stabilized. These trends are observed in all departments except Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Vaucluse (slight increase) and Hautes-Alpes (slight decrease).

  • SOS Médecins - The number and proportion of consultations for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age have increased slightly (12.3% vs. 11.4% in Week 46). This level is comparable to the highest epidemic peaks of previous winter seasons. This trend is observed in Bouches-du-Rhône and Var, while a slight decrease in indicators is observed in Alpes-Maritimes.

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses

  • Transition to the epidemic phase.

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to flu-like illnesses is on the rise. Nearly half of emergency department visits involve children under 15 (42% of flu-related visits in Week 48).

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of consultations for a diagnosis of flu-like illness is on the rise.

  • Sentinel Network - The incidence rate for flu-like illness reported by the Sentinel Network in week 48, not yet finalized, is 293 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [194; 392]).

  • Severe cases of influenza - Three severe cases of influenza requiring intensive care have been reported by the intensive care sentinel network since early November.

  • Emergency departments: low activity

  • SOS Médecins associations: low activity

  • Sentinel Network: low activity
