Epidemiological surveillance in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Update as of April 28, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Declining viral circulation.

  • Decrease in the number of active cases among patients in general hospital wards and those admitted to critical care

  • Decreased activity in emergency departments and for SOS Médecins associations.

  • Decrease in the number of cases in ESMS facilities.

Flu

  • 14th week of the epidemic—peak reached in weeks 12 and 13.

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to flu-like symptoms is decreasing.

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of consultations for a diagnosis of flu-like symptoms is declining.

  • Sentinelles Network - The incidence rate for influenza-like illness reported by the Sentinelles network in week 16, not yet consolidated, is 217 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [126; 308]).

  • Virological surveillance - Since the start of surveillance, the Rénal network has isolated 3,324 type A viruses and 1 type B virus. Physicians in the Sentinelles network have isolated 67 type A influenza viruses (data not available for the week analyzed).

  • Severe influenza cases: 24 cases admitted to intensive care were reported by the intensive care sentinel network.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Emergency departments - The proportion of visits for gastroenteritis remains stable.

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of consultations for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis is stable.

  • Sentinel Network - The incidence rate for acute diarrhea reported by the Sentinel Network in week 16, not yet consolidated, is 149 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [74; 224]).
