At the initiative of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS), an experimental network for the epidemiological surveillance of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) was established in 2002 in the Pays de la Loire region to serve as an observatory for work-related MSDs. This network will provide an operational surveillance tool in a French region to guide the prevention of MSDs of the limbs and spine.
