Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of November 26, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

In the Pays de la Loire region, the spread of Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is intensifying across the region, impacting the healthcare system and the demand for medical care.

Bronchiolitis

The region has been in the bronchiolitis epidemic phase since week 41, like other metropolitan regions (see map opposite). After a slight decline linked to school holidays and the November 11 long weekend, healthcare utilization for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (emergency room visits and SOS Médecins calls) saw a slight increase in Week 46, more pronounced for SOS Médecins, remaining at high levels and well above alert thresholds. These cases are linked to the circulation of RSV reported by the virology laboratories at the Nantes and Angers University Hospitals, although it remains at a moderate level for the time being.
