COVID-19

• In the Pays de la Loire region, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation and hospital and healthcare utilization indicators remained at low levels.

• In Week 5, virological indicators (testing rate, incidence rate, positivity rate) remained generally stable and at very low levels. SOS Médecins calls and emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19, as well as new hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and in-hospital deaths among patients with SARS-CoV-2, were generally stable in Week 5 and at low levels.

Bronchiolitis

• The Pays de la Loire region is nearing the end of the bronchiolitis epidemic in S05.

• In Week 5, the rate of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was stable, with numbers similar to those observed before the start of the bronchiolitis epidemic. SOS Médecins calls for bronchiolitis were decreasing in S05, remaining at a low level. Very few RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) cases were detected by the virology laboratories at the Nantes and Angers university hospitals over the past two weeks.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

• The Pays de la Loire region has been in the flu epidemic phase since Week 49.

• In Week 05, emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls for influenza-like illness were slightly on the rise. An increase in the detection of type B influenza viruses was reported by the virology laboratory at the Nantes University Hospital. Nationally, the resurgence in influenza virus circulation observed in week 04 was confirmed in week 05, with a majority of type B/Victoria viruses.

Acute Gastroenteritis

• Emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis remained at a moderate level of activity in Week 05, for the second consecutive week. Calls to SOS Médecins for acute gastroenteritis remained at a high level in Week 05, for the third consecutive week.
