Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of April 14, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In the Pays de la Loire region, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation and hospital and healthcare utilization indicators remained at low levels but showed a slight upward trend.

  • In Week 14, the incidence rate and positivity rate were higher than in Week 13 but remained at low to moderate levels. The testing rate remained low and was declining slightly. SOS Médecins calls and emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 remained stable. New hospitalizations were slightly higher compared to Week 13. New admissions to critical care and hospital deaths among patients with SARS-CoV-2 were stable and remained at a low level in Week 14, as in Week 13.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been in the post-epidemic phase for influenza since Week 13

  • In Week 14, emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls were down compared to Weeks 13 and 12, as was the circulation of influenza B viruses.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Emergency room visits and SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis have been declining in recent weeks, reaching a low level of activity in Week 14.
