Bronchiolitis
SOS Médecins: Procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were on the rise compared to the previous week, mainly in the eastern part of the region (Perpignan, Nîmes, and Montpellier), where RSV continues to circulate.
Oscour®: Emergency room visits and hospitalizations for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were decreasing compared to the previous week. However, this trend is driven by the western part of the region, where emergency room visits are decreasing, while the rate of visits remains very high in the eastern part of Occitanie.
Influenza
SOS Médecins: procedures for all ages for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were on the rise compared to the previous week. In week 52-2023, 464 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 9.9% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (420 procedures in week 51-2023).
Oscour®: Consultations for all age groups regarding a diagnosis of influenza or flu-like syndrome were up compared to the previous week. In week 52 of 2023, 379 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 1.3% of all visits (204 visits in week 51 of 2023).
COVID-19
SOS Médecins: Procedures for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 were decreasing for the second consecutive week; this decrease was observed across all age groups (148 procedures, or 314 procedures per 10,000 consultations).
Oscour®: visits due to suspected COVID-19 remained stable compared to the previous week (456 emergency room visits, or 152 per 10,000 consultations). Of these visits, 44% resulted in hospitalization. Finally, the R-Effectif, estimated based on regional data from the Oscour® network through 12/30/2023, remained below 1 and was slightly higher compared to the previous week.
Gastroenteritis and Acute Diarrhea
SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was high in week 52 of 2023. Procedures for all ages involving a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were up compared to the previous week. In week 52 of 2023, 377 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 8.0% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (248 procedures in week 51 of 2023).
Oscour®: Gastroenteritis activity was high in week 52 of 2023. Visits for gastroenteritis among all age groups and children under 5 were on the rise compared to the previous week. In week 52-2023, 667 out of 240 visits were for gastroenteritis, representing 2.2% and 6.2% of total visits, respectively (440 out of 212 visits in week 51-2023).
