Key Points

COVID-19

  • In week 45 of 2022, the region’s four SOS Médecins associations recorded 81 cases of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 (or 207 cases per 10,000 consultations), an increase compared to week 44 (73 cases, 180 cases per 10,000 consultations).

  • Weekly COVID-19 activity in emergency departments has been stable over the past 3 weeks at the regional level, with 222 suspected cases of COVID-19 in Week 45, or 75 per 10,000 consultations for the most recent period considered. The R value estimated from regional data from the Oscour® network through 11/12/2022 was 1.01 (0.88–1.14), greater than 1 but not statistically significant, and higher than the previous week.

Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea

  • Low activity in private practice (SOS Médecins) and low in hospital settings (Oscour® network).

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour® network: visits and hospitalizations for a diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were down compared to the previous week. In week 45 of 2022, 373 visits for this diagnosis in this age group were recorded, representing 20.2% of visits in this age group (425 visits in week 44 of 2022). Of these visits, 134 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 35.9% for this diagnosis; these hospitalizations accounted for 45.0% of all hospitalizations in this age group.

  • SOS Médecins: the number of cases diagnosed with bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remained stable compared to the previous week and remained at a high level. In week 45 of 2022, 62 cases diagnosed with bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were recorded, representing 16.1% of the overall activity of SOS Médecins associations in this age group (64 cases in week 44 of 2022).
